Wilson Hammett, PhD, MPH, is a postdoctoral scholar and lecturer in Community Health Sciences at UCLA, where she conducts mixed-methods research funded by the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research (NCGVR) examining patterns of use of extreme risk protection orders (ERPOs) and domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs) in cases of intimate partner violence in California. Wilson's research interests include examining state domestic violence-related firearm policy, exploring the relationship between domestic violence and mass shootings, and bettering our understanding of mass shootings as a public health issue. She is also particularly interested in how violence is culturally understood in U.S. political contexts. Hammett received her PhD in Health Policy and Management in 2024 from UCLA and holds a master's in Global Health from the University of Washington and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia.
