Mia Livas Porter is a Policy Analyst with the LA County Office of Violence Prevention, housed under the LA County Department of Public Health. She is a survivor of gun violence, her brother Junior died by gun suicide after a 5 year struggle with schizophrenia over 30 years ago. She became a Gun Violence Prevention Activist after joining Moms Demand Action in 2018, and has since spoken nationally in DC, on television, podcasts, and NPR. She also ran for the CA Assembly on a Gun Violence Prevention Platform in 2022. Mia is a mom of two boys, who are 17 and 13.
